St.John's Church is not only one of the oldest churches in Kolkata, but is a storehouse of numerous objects of historical and aesthetic value . St. John's Church , popularly known as Stone Church , is located at Council House Street , south of B.B.D.Bag . The flooring of the church is done with stones obtained from different places. For example, the church contains the sculpture of Job Charnock, which is highly artistic. Then, there is a fabulous dome with a pitcher attached to it. You can also find the tombs of Charnock's daughters.  Among other attractions , worth mentioning are a famous painting by John Zoffany , titled as 'The Last Supper',also stained glass windows and furnitures  used by Lord Hastings , an old photograph of the church taken by Samuel Bourne in the year 1860 . There are also numerous cenotaphs inscribed in memory of men and women who had served the empire.

Kinnaur

Located on the Indo Tibetan border, surrounded by Tibet to the east, Garhwal Himalayan to the south is the beautiful Kinnaur district .About 200 km from Shimla ,  one enters the strikingly beautiful district of Kinnaur where the river Satluj carves deep gorges through the the high mountains. The Satluj river which rises on the southern slopes of Kailash mountain near Mansarover in Tibet flows through the Kinnaur valley. Our journey  began from Shimla , the state capital of Himachal . A day's journey along the river Satlej took us to Rampur which may be called the Gate way of Kinnaur . Near the Rampur market there is the king's palace which is worth seeing . From Rampur we went to Sangla , a small village surrounded by snow capped mountains on all side . A day's  journey took us to Chitkul , India's last village beyond which is Tibet .We stayed at Sangla for two days and then visited Kalpa , a hilly resort ,encircled by snow capped peaks like the KinnaurKailash. Our last destination was Sarahan , famous as a Hindu pilgrimage of this region .

Muktinath: Nepal Himalayas

Muktinath is a sacred place both for Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas), Mustang district, Nepal. The site is close to the village Ranipauwa, which sometimes mistakenly is called Muktinath as well.

The Hindus call the sacred place Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the “place of salvation”. It is also one of the 51 Sakthi peetams. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means ‘Hundred Waters’. For Tibetan Buddhists Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa is a very important place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers and one of the 24 Tantric places. They understand the murti to be a manifestation of Avalokitesvara.
