Dooars is the place of lush green forests, sleepy hamlets and misty mountains, which makes it a traveler’s paradise. This time our destination was Murti: a small village at the fringe of Gorumara forest. We got down at New Mall Station and took a car to reach the village Murti. A small bridge on the river Murti, joins the village to the adjoining forest. We went to Samsing and Suntalekhola one day. Located in the undulating foothills of Himalayas, these are exotic tourist spots to enjoy the serenity of nature. The murmuring stream Suntalekhola flows down the hill. Another attraction is the orange orchard that you may come across, while travelling in this region. Dooars can take pride of its abundance of a variegated flora and fauna. There are a number of watch towers in Gorumara Reserve Forest, where from tourists can spot wildlife, if luck turns out to be favourable .These include, Chapramari , Medla , Jatraproshadand Chukchuki , We could see bisons at Chapramari.
Another day we went Phuntshiling , on the way to Phuntshiling we visited Holong forest bun low , an exotic forest resort situated in the midst of forest.. Phuntshiling being the gate way to Bhutan , a day journey enabled us to have a taste of Bhutanese life there .
